True Blue Charters is owned and operated by Captain Brian Springstead. Captain Brian is a Traverse City native and has been fishing these waters for over 30 years. You will fish aboard True Blue a beautiful 31 ft Tiara with absolutely the best gear available. No other Captain has won the Grand Traverse Salmon classic tournament more than Captain Brian. Actually it's not even close, Brian has won it 5 times including last year, 2013. You can rest assured you're fishing with the best!

E-License Instructions

  1. Go to select get started
  2. Under customer ID, enter Michigan Driver License, State of Michigan personal Identification number or Sport card identification. If you do not have any of these, you will purchase a Sport card for $1.00
  3. Enter date of birth and residency on the Customer ID page and answer any applicable questions then submit
  4. At the Catalog screen, click on the drop down arrow by the Category (Base/Small Game) and highlight Fish, from there you select the Annual Fishing license, a 24 Hour Fishing license or a 72 Hour Fishing license.
  5. When selecting the 24 or 72 Hour licenses, you will enter a date and time for the license to be Effective and continue
  6. You will then be directed back to the Catalog screen, you will go to the Shopping Cart and if you are done you will checkout. A pop up with a question on Sportsmen Against Hunger will come up at this point.
  7. You are then directed to the customer information screen for your name & e-mail address, then directed to the payment screen after which you will come back into the E-license screen where there will be a PDF file that will be the receipt with the license attached at the bottom. The PDF file may be printed or saved as a document to a smart phone or mobile tablet or device and used as the license.
To prevent identity theft, the licenses no longer print with the name and address, the only thing that will print will be the Sport card number, the applicant date of birth, the date of purchase and the item purchased.



Grilled Salmon

  • 1 1/2 pounds salmon fillets
  • lemon pepper to taste
  • garlic powder to taste
  • salt to taste
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

  1. Season salmon fillets with lemon pepper, garlic powder, and salt.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and vegetable oil until sugar is dissolved. Place fish in a large resealable plastic bag with the soy sauce mixture, seal, and turn to coat. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  3. Preheat grill for medium heat.
  4. Lightly oil grill grate. Place salmon on the preheated grill, and discard marinade. Cook salmon for 6 to 8 minutes per side, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
